Forum disruption

I’m sure most of you will be aware by now that there is a database access issue to the Forum resulting in loss of this important part of the website.
I have created a separate temporary page just so you know we are working on the problem - and hope to bring good news later.
I apologise for any inconvenience caused during this time.

As mentioned when it re-appeared briefly yesterday - the host was still investigating the issues, so at that time, nothing had been “fixed”.
I am not terribly impressed with the response to the hosting company so far, who seem to have done little to address the issue as to why this has happeneded to the database now. Unfortunately I cannot have direct access to them and must rely on (slow) email exchanges…
I think some kind of compensation would be quite rightly suited for the downtime, specially as they are still “investigating” (another word for it’s fcuked and we don’t have a clue) the cause. The way it should be handled is move the backup to another server to minimize the disruption.
*yes and no - the host can (rightly) argue that it is doing its job as in this page is being served and html is being served - it appears to be a sql database issue… (*shakes fist at sql’s!)

Joe, I have looked at the error, and by the sounds of it, the server only allows a certain number of connections or users visiting the site at the same time. When this limit is reached, it crashes.
Soooo, the bigger the site gets, the more this’ll happen!
I think the host should get kicked to the wayside!

MrQWest - I don’t think that’s what the error is saying at all (and yes, I know that’s kiond of what it says) - but it just doesn’t add up - the site has not changed in visitor users/numbers this week since 8 months ago; and as the site has now crashed it can have zero visitors… and yet is still fu-bared!

oh, and regarding my insurance we spoke about a couple o’ days ago - Flux gave me an offer half the price of the other insurers!
